Meet Agnes Henderson
Owner of AAMP Music
Where it started
At a young age, Agnes knew music and piano were destined to be part of her life. Age seven marked Agnes’ first piano lessons, carrying through to high school where she completed the Grade 10 Piano Exam with the Royal Conservatory of Music. Following this, Agnes started teaching piano.
The In-Between Years
Agnes continued studying and completed all the necessary theory exams before taking piano lessons again with Leslie Kinton to prepare for her Associate of the Royal Conservatory of Toronto (A.R.C.T) Piano Performers Exam.
From 1993-2011, Agnes hit many professional milestones including starting as Music Director at Knox Presbyterian Church, writing her own original music, having her first choral anthem professionally published, and organizing the first rendition of The Music of Christmas concert at Knox, a full-length concert featuring local musical talents.
2006 marked the beginnings of Agnes’ venture into recording and producing, and later in 2011, she had the opportunity to join local rock band “Need an Elevator,” with her debut gig at the popular Paddyfest concert and dance.
Amidst each of these milestones, Agnes started a family of her own, too!
Currently
In her part-time role as Music Director at Knox Church, Agnes remains dedicated to combining her love of music with her faith, and instilling a love of music in her community. Here, Agnes works directly with the choir, soloists and instrumentalists, and selects the music and hymns to be part of the weekly worship service. The Music of Christmas at Knox has grown from one show into two-full-capacity shows, and a holiday staple in the community.
Agnes continues to enjoy rehearsing weekly, and performing with “Need an Elevator,” once or twice a year, adding many songs into her repertoire including covers from the 70s to the early 2000s. Her commitment to the community also continues to shine through her participation as the guest organist at the annual concert Christmas with the Salvation Army Band held in Listowel.
Beyond her community involvement, Agnes has the pleasure of teaching 25-30 students each week, all at various levels. She’s regularly working on original pieces of her own, while continuing to learn in the recording and production realm alongside other artists. On occasion, she will be asked to work on special projects such as singles for milestone events (weddings for example), adding a nice dynamic to her workload!
Outside of music, Agnes enjoys reading, crafting, and cooking.
